Milder, more spring-like temperatures are on tap for Acadiana for the rest of the week as clouds increase Wednesday with a few showers possible later this week and into the weekend.
In the near term, look for clear skies Tuesday night with temperatures holding closer to the mid-upper 40s thanks to the return of southerly winds this afternoon.
Sunny skies are anticipated for our Wednesday morning but clouds will gradually work their way into the region from the southwest as high pressure shifts toward the Eastern Gulf of Mexico.
Temperatures Wednesday will likely reach the spring-like mid-70s before cloud cover fully kicks in.
Our attention will then focus to a frontal boundary that approaches the area Thursday and then essentially stalls roughly near northern portions of Acadiana into Friday.
So the forecast for Thursday, Friday and into the weekend should stay on the mild side (low-mid 70s), but the extreme northern portions of the Acadiana area could see some slight cooling just behind the front Friday.
Per usual, with a frontal boundary in the vicinity, there will be some rain daily chances Thursday through the weekend, but highest rain chances will be found farther north, along and north of the front.
For most of Acadiana, daily rain chances should be in the 20-30% range Thursday through Sunday, but should increase into Monday as a more definitive front tries to move through the area.
Provided Acadiana stays south of any frontal boundaries temperatures this weekend will likely top out in the mid-upper 70s...in fact temperatures reaching 80° Sunday is certainly possible if we see an interval or two of some sun!
Overall, the 10 Day Forecast looks quite mild, although today we are showing slightly cooler temperatures behind a weak front sometime mid-next week.
