Milder afternoons this week

Posted
and last updated

After a chilly start for Acadiana Tuesday morning look for milder afternoon temperatures under full sunshine, with the warming rend continuing through Friday.

In the near term, look for morning lows Tuesday in the mid-upper 30s with the chance of some patchy frost, especially in the more rural, outlying areas and northern Acadiana parishes.

As winds turn more westerly, expect a nice warm-up into Tuesday afternoon with highs reaching the mid-60s.

High pressure will stay in charge across the area through Thursday with afternoon temperatures topping out in the upper 60s to lower 70s.

Clouds and breezy conditions will begin to return late Thursday into Friday ahead of our next weather-maker that looks to arrive Friday night into early Saturday.

An upper low off the Southern California Coast Monday is expected to get picked up by a more progressive upper low dropping down from the Rockies, with the whole enchilada arriving with a good chance of showers, perhaps a few thunderstorms into Friday night.

This weekend's weather looks likely another toss-up with briefly clearing skies expected Saturday afternoon.

Plenty of high clouds may get back into the region Sunday as another over-running pattern (similar to this past weekend) may develop.

See the KATC 10 Day Forecast for the latest.

Longer range pattern: the extended outlook beyond the next 10 days continues to look cooler than normal with near or slightly below normal precipitation into much of next week.
