The heat continues into Sunday.

Happy weekend everyone! The July heat has settled in across Acadiana and it is not looking to go anywhere anytime soon. Highs today topped out in the mid 90s as heat indices soared into the lower and even mid 100s.

Another muggy, uncomfortable night as lows will struggle to fall into the upper 70s.

Looking at the bigger picture, upper-level high pressure has dominated our weather over the last couple of days and will continue to do so through the rest of the weekend and for most of this upcoming week. This leads to very hot conditions and only slight rain chances to help us get any sort of a break from the heat.

Sunday looks rather hot again as high temperatures top out in the mid to upper 90s. Heat indices will sit in the lower to mid 100s once again. As a result, a heat advisory will be in place from 11 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Full heat precautions will need to be in place for Sunday. Things like drinking plenty of water, finding shade, or even jumping into a pool are all ways to help you beat the heat.

We look to stay hot and relatively dry for most of the upcoming week before ever so slightly higher rain chances return by late week.

In the tropics: With Fay all but gone, the rest of the Atlantic remains quiet and is expected to remain that way for at least the next 5 days.
