Pretty typical June forecast the next few days.

Happy weekend everyone! We saw a few isolated storms across Acadiana this afternoon, but otherwise it was hot and humid with heat indices in the mid to upper 90s.

Expect more of the same as we head into Sunday with rain chances holding steady at 30% and our high temperatures climbing close to 90. Now with dew points sitting well into the 70s, it will feel closer to the upper 90s and 100 degrees Sunday afternoon. It is a good idea to remain hydrated throughout the day if you plan on being outside.

High pressure in the eastern Gulf will look to build westward as we head into most of next week which will likely keep most of us dry through the course of the week. However, we can never totally rule out the possibility of an isolated storm or two building in the afternoons this time of year. Rain chances will sit at around 20-30%.

The bigger story will be our heat index values for the work week. High temperatures will remain in the lower 90s for the bulk of the week, but with plenty of humidity in place, it'll feel closer to 100 degrees all week long. Proper precautions to deal with these conditions are advised. These include things like drinking plenty of water, taking frequent breaks, and trying to avoid the peak heating hours if at all possible. Y'all have a good weekend!

In the tropics: No new developments are expected in the next few days.
