Cold front on the way Sunday with cooler air to follow this week!

A muggy night ahead across Acadiana as moisture increases ahead of our next cold front.

Low temperatures will struggle to fall back into the mid and upper 60s with clouds building in late.

Some patchy fog will be possible by morning.

Expect mostly cloudy skies to start off Sunday with scattered light showers moving through the area in response to the front.

Front will move through by late morning with gradual clearing skies heading into the afternoon time frame.

High temperatures on Sunday will top out in the mid-70s.

It'll also be a breezy day with winds starting out from the south, but then quickly picking up from the north behind the frontal passage.

Temperatures will then drop off quickly Sunday night as lows fall back into the mid-40s under clear skies by Monday morning.

High pressure will then be in control for the better part of the upcoming week, so expect plenty of sunshine with highs in the 70s and lows mainly in the 40s!

A gradual warm-up can be expected by the latter half of the week as high pressure starts to slowly slide off to our east.

Rain chances stay fairly minimal for the remainder of the 10-day.

Have a great rest of the weekend!

In the tropics: Tropical Storm Iota continues to get better organized and is expected to become a hurricane on Sunday.

Forecast track remains fairly certain with a westward movement toward Central America by the early parts of the upcoming week.

Unfortunately it is forecasted to be a major hurricane upon landfall.

Keep in mind these are some of the same areas that were impacted by Eta only about a week or so ago.

It will eventually weaken with time over the mountainous terrain of Central America.

The system is no threat to us here in Acadiana.

The rest of the tropics are quiet at this time.
