After a celestial show Sunday evening and cool start to the week, look for another sunny and warm day for Acadiana Monday.

In the near term this evening, Acadiana will be in store for an extra treat after sunset which is at 7:42 pm...

Look for a waxing crescent "Flower" Moon in the western sky with the dark side illuminated by our earth-shine, the light emitted from our planet onto the moon, while a brilliant Venus will bear witness just to the right of the moon!

Prime-time viewing will be roughly from 8:00pm until 10:30pm. The moon and Venus will set on the western horizon around 11 pm.

Temperatures will drop nice through Monday morning with crisp lows in the mid-upper 50s expected.

Lots of sunshine is in store for our Monday with highs in the lower 80s while an easterly breeze turns more south-southeasterly into the afternoon.

Fair skies and slightly milder yet seasonable temperatures are expected Monday night into Tuesday morning while the humidity gradually creeps upward.

Tuesday will become mostly cloudy, breezy and warm ahead of our next weather-maker, a system currently up in the Gulf of Alaska, dives southeastward into the lower 48.

Showers and thunderstorms look to be a fairly good bet Wednesday, especially early in the day, with a possible low-end severe weather threat developing in the region.

For now, no more than a marginal risk of a few severe storms will be possible for Acadiana with hail and strong winds the main storm modes. More on this Monday.

Once again, it looks like the threat of severe storms will likely be more substantial to our north and east, especially into Mississippi of course...it's been a rough month there.

Thereafter, the longer range pattern will bring more stellar weather to Acadiana for the latter part of the week, and next weekend is looking good too...although it gets warmer and certainly more humid toward the back-end of the KATC 10 Day Forecast.
