After a rough period over the last couple of days (and couple of weeks for that matter), Acadiana will get to enjoy an extended period of some very nice spring weather into the weekend, and likely well beyond!
Look for lots of sunshine for our Thursday, and after a chilly start in the low-mid 50s, Acadiana should top out in the upper 70s.
Look for another clear and cool one (filled with a quarter moon) Thursday night into Friday morning with lows again dropping into the mid-50s.
Plenty of sunshine will continue Friday with highs pushing into the lower 80s.
High pressure looks to stay the dominant feature in our forecast, although it will begin to slide eastward across the Gulf of Mexico this weekend into early next week.
This will allow for warmer temperatures under fair to partly cloudy skies this weekend and into early next week.
Highs Saturday will be in the low-mid 80s while Sunday's highs push well into the mid-80s.
Little change is anticipated weather-wise into early next week other than we will be warming-up closer to near summer-like highs.
Temperatures will likely get close to 90 degrees Monday and/or Tuesday of next week before a weak frontal boundary arrives Wednesday cooling us off a few degrees.
We could see a few spotty showers with the next front Wednesday, but for now, rain chances should be relatively low...and more importantly, we shouldn't see any severe weather threats next Wednesday and probably for at least several days to follow.
See the KATC 10 Day Forecast for the latest.
And in good local climate news: Before Tuesday's and Wednesday's rains, much of Acadiana was in a slight to moderate drought (the drought status updates every Thursday, so this is last Thursday's assessment)...and after anywhere between 2-6" of rain locally, we have certainly put a nice dent in that incipient drought!
