Severe weather risk areas for Friday night.

It’s an active forecast this Friday with a chance for a few thunderstorms to end up on the severe side later in the evening.

Cloudy skies will persist through the remainder of the day with a few showers popping up through the morning and the afternoon.

These early showers will be largely scattered and on the light side, however, they will pick up in intensity and coverage later Friday evening.

As has been mentioned through the week a few of the ingredients necessary for severe weather will be present so we’ll need to keep an eye on some of those thunderstorms.

The set up won’t support a widespread severe weather event, but there’s certainly the possibility of a few isolated thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds and isolated tornadoes.

Regardless of severe weather or not there is still the expectation of some rain overnight and Acadiana could be looking at a half inch or precipitation.

The showers will taper off Saturday morning and we may even end up with a little patchy sunshine by Saturday afternoon, temperatures will be staying warm though with highs in the 80s this weekend.
