...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CDT SATURDAY...
* WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall will continue.
* WHERE...A portion of central Louisiana, including the following
parish, St. Landry.
* WHEN...Until 600 PM CDT Saturday.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads
remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to
excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Expect many areas of slow
moving or standing water. It will take several hours for all the
water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in
urban areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 957 AM CDT, emergency management reported heavy rain in
the warned area due to runoff and standing water from
previous excessive rainfall. Flooding is already occurring.
Between 5 and 29 inches of rain have fallen.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Krotz Springs, Melville, Palmetto, Bayou Current, Morrow,
Port Barre, Washington, Lebeau, Big Cane, Grand Prairie and
Whiteville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams.
Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away.
