Clear skies will continue tonight and with a northerly breeze cold air will filter down into Acadiana as lows Monday morning fall into the upper 30s to lower 40s.

Here is a look at the latest hour-by-hour temperatures for this evening and Monday morning.

After the cold start temperatures remain below average during the afternoon as highs only top out in the low to mid 60s.

Don’t get use to the sunshine because clouds will quickly move back over Acadiana Monday afternoon.

These clouds will be the leading edge of our next warm front lifting north over the Gulf and looks to arrive near the coast late Monday night into Tuesday morning producing a good chance for scattered showers.

Warm front brings the chance for rain Tuesday morning.

Like last week we might get a break in the rain during the day but Tuesday evening the front will waffle back over Acadiana creating another round of scattered showers.

Another round of showers possible Tuesday evening

Wednesday the warm front finally lifts farther to the north getting to about Alexandria bringing the warm and humid air back over Acadiana leading to hit or miss showers and fog Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Another shortwave looks to ride along the sub-tropical jet and over Acadiana on Thursday bumping rain chances up to about 60% during the afternoon.

Friday will be our warmest day with highs in the upper 70s to near 80 but it won’t last long as our next cold front is forecast to arrive during the day sparking off some hit or miss showers but more importantly ushering in cooler air for Mardi Gras.

For the weekend festivities the forecast doesn’t look too bad as we should have partly sunny skies both days with only a 20-30% chance for a few isolated showers.

But as I mentioned earlier cool and breezy conditions will be sliding over Acadiana as highs will be in the upper 50s to lower 60s and lows will dip down into the upper 30s to lower 40s.

As for Lundi Gras and Mardi Gras it looks even cooler with temperatures in the low to mid 50s during the day with slight rain chances possible.

And if you believe the latest Euro model temperatures could be down right chilly with highs in the mid 40s Tuesday afternoon.

Now this forecast is still several days out and will likely change in the coming days but right now I would prepare for a cool Mardi Gras this year.
