As many kids head back to school this week it is still going to feel very much like summer with hot and humid conditions expected for most of the upcoming week.

Highs Monday through Thursday will be in the low to mid 90s each afternoon with heat indices topping out between 101-105° so make sure the kids are staying hydrated and drinking plenty of water, especially those that are playing sports and have to practice out in this heat.

Also, as you send the kids back to school you might want to put a small umbrella in their backpacks just in case as we will have the daily chance(30%-40%) for a few pop-up showers and storms during the afternoon.

Towards the end of the week on Friday a frontal system will try to work its way into the ArkLaTex area.

With this front just to our north it could send us some upper level energy to produce a good chance(60%) for scattered showers and storms during the afternoon and evening.

A secondary wave of energy from this front could then work across the area on Saturday to produce a few more scattered showers and storms.

Then on Sunday the atmosphere will still be rather juicy to fire off another round of hit or miss showers.

However, next weekend will not be a wash out but if you have outdoor plans best to do it earlier in the day rather than later.

Looking ahead to the following week we might get some drier weather but that means more sunshine and very hot and humid conditions.
