Quick break from the rain

It feels like it’s been quite sometime since we’ve had a dry day here in Acadiana, and the dry stretch at the beginning of the summer is beginning to feel like a distant memory.

Lafayette, officially, picked up another 1.88" of rain on Monday which is almost just as much rain as we had for the entire month of June (again these are official numbers which are recorded at the Lafayette regional airport so those numbers may very from backyard gauges).

We will get a break from the wet weather on Tuesday, although isolated showers will still be possible, with more sunshine then we’ve seen these last few days.

The increase in sunshine naturally comes with higher temperatures with the high in the afternoon in the lower 90s and the heat index likewise pushing the triple digits.

It’s a short lived break, however, showers will be bouncing back in the middle of the week with rain more widespread on Wednesday and Thursday and likely unsettled into the weekend.
