Showers continue through the week

Hopefully everyone is having a good Independence Day and enjoying the sunshine we’ve been granted this afternoon, even if we do still have to dodge a couple of showers.

The last of the showers will wind down through the evening which means we are still looking good for late night fireworks, and it’ll even stay quiet through Thursday morning.

It’ll be a quick break, however, as a disturbance will once again move west from Florida bringing us widespread showers and thunderstorms Thursday afternoon and evening.

One or two of these storms will be capable of producing severe weather, although severe storms will remain isolated, so we’ll need to be on the lookout for damaging winds, heavy downpours, and frequent lightning.

Much like the one that moved through on Tuesday this will be a quick moving disturbance so while rain chances will remain elevated Friday it won’t be the extent of Thursday’s showers.

After that it’s still looking like it’s going to be a wet weekend across Acadiana with a meandering front dropping in from the north on Saturday and stalling through Sunday.
