UPDATE: Two arrested for stolen checks booked on additional charges

Police say the two people arrested for possessing stolen checks have been booked into SMPCC on additional charges.

Dustin Guilbeau of Jennings was charged with 23 counts of Attempted Access Device Fraud, 13 counts of Monetary Instrument Abuse, and 13 counts of Forgery.

Heather Compton of Port Barre was charged with 23 counts of Attempted Access Device Fraud, 4 counts of Monetary Instrument Abuse, and 4 counts of Forgery.

The Breaux Bridge Police Department says they have arrested two people after finding them in possession of stolen checks.

Police report that they received a call on Wednesday in regards to apparent shoplifting at a local business. Upon arriving at the scene a man and woman were allegedly found to be in possession of over 30 stolen checks.

Police say those checks totaled $43,386.49.

The two people, identified as 34-year-old Dustin Guilbeau of Jennings and 35-year-old Heather Compton of Port Barre were arrested and transported to the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center.

Guilbeau was booked on charges of Illegal Possession of Stolen Things and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Compton was booked on charges with Principal to Illegal Possession of Stolen Things, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Theft.
