Lafayette boys soccer team wins international recognition in Spain tourney

BARCELONA — Lafayette boys soccer is officially on the map as a global powerhouse in international youth football. The Dynamo Juniors U15 Boys soccer team won the Mediterranean International Cup consolation bracket in Barcelona Spain. The event is made up of the best youth soccer clubs and national teams of the world competing in different age classes.

The Lafayette boys team defeated UNO Sports of Japan in penalties to win the Cup. Leading up to the final game of the tournament the Dynamos beat other juniors teams from Brazil, Spain, Israel and Japan to win the Cup.

This year’s tournament (March-27th – April 1st) was the 18th edition of the youth football tournament known as the Mediterranean International Cup (MIC). The main purpose of the tournament is to pit young soccer players from around the world against the best players and teams in their age bracket.

Since its inception the MIC tournament has been supported by famous soccer personalities like Pep Guardiola, Luis Felipe Scolari, Ronaldo, and Ronaldinho.

Some participants of the MIC have already made their debut with first division clubs like Leo Messi, (FC Barcelona), Cesc Fàbregas (Arsenal FC), Anderson (Manchester United), Lucas (Livepool FC), and Marcelo (Real Madrid CF).
