OPELOUSAS — Two people are in the hospital after an early-morning shooting in which a mobile home was struck.

Police say it happened in the 1900 block of Linus Street just after 2 a.m. Monday morning.

According to Opelousas police chief Martin McLendon, several people were in the home at the time of the shooting. The two victims are in stable condition.

Police say it was likely a targeted attack.

Opelousas Police Spokesperson Maj. Mark Guidry said, "It appears as though whoever committed this crime knew exactly the residents that they were targeting."

He explained that the area includes several homes, but there was only one home hit.

No suspects have been named and the victims have not been identified. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Opelousas Police or St. Landry Parish Crimestoppers.

Guidry added, "Anybody who would recklessly shoot at a home in this manner, we would really want them to come forward...try to justify this in any way, and I don't think they can."
