Labor Day has a special meaning for one St.Mary Parish mother. She went into labor, giving birth to a baby girl at Our Lady of Lourdes Women's and Children's hospital in Lafayette on Monday afternoon.

At 7 pounds and 6.3 ounces, little Dorryon Linscomb couldn't come soon enough for her parents. "This process started on Friday," her father Dorian Linscomb said. "She was being a little stubborn."

Her father, says it's been an interesting week. She's named after her father, Dorian, not Hurricane Dorian. Ironically, she's born on the same week, as the hurricane is making landfall.

"I've been getting a lot of phone calls and text messages. Like man, slow down don't mess up too much," Dorian said.

Unlike the hurricane, her mother, Montrilin Moreaux says the new born baby is "very calm."
"Not much crying. So we're good right now," Moreaux said.

While the birth took a little longer than the family anticipated, they are happy to welcome a new addition to their household.
