Within the past few weeks, numerous scams have been reported to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office.
While some attempts were thwarted, some losses, reaching hundreds of thousands of dollars, succeeded, a release states.
"Our Adult and Elderly Services Unit is working tirelessly to investigate these scams and hopefully prevent them from profiting," the release states.
