Late runs not enough as Cajuns drop 5th-consecutive game

LAFAYETTE (KATC) – After trimming a 10-0 lead to one, Louisiana surrendered three in the ninth to fall 13-9 at home to Texas State Friday.

The loss is Louisiana’s 5th-straight.

Starting pitcher Brandon Young exited the game down 2-0 and runners on in the fifth. The Bobcats would abuse the bullpen for eight more, nine in total in the inning building their 10-0 lead.

Louisiana responded with three in the bottom of the fifth, two in the sixth and four in the seventh.

The Cajuns recorded 12 hits. Todd Lott led the team with 3 RBI, O’Neal Lochridge and Hayden Cantrelle each had 2.

Game two of the series is Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
