LAFAYETTE (Press Release) 10th-ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Softball returns to the friendly confines of Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park Friday-Sunday, April 5-7 for a Sun Belt Conference series with UT Arlington.

The series starts a stretch in which the Ragin’ Cajuns (30-4, 12-0 Sun Belt) play three of the next four SBC series at home. Prior to this weekend, Louisiana was on the road for three of the first four series.

Gerry Glasco’s squad enters the series with UTA (18-18, 6-6 Sun Belt) atop the SBC standings after collecting four series sweeps over the first four weekends. The Ragin’ Cajuns are off to their best start in SBC play since 2017 (opened 14-0).

Louisiana is coming off a midweek win at McNeese on Wednesday which increased the team’s current win streak to seven games, and stretched the road win streak to 11 games.

The Ragin’ Cajuns sport a 15-1 record at Lamson Park this season. The offense boasts a .355 average at the facility, while the pitching staff has yielded just 15 runs in 102 innings.

The Mavericks have claimed a pair of Top 25 wins the past two weeks, defeating Arkansas (March 27) and Oklahoma State (April 3). A year ago, Louisiana and UTA’s series in Arlington featured a walk-off win by the Mavs and a 12-inning thriller won by the Ragin’ Cajuns.

Louisiana has an active streak of 50 consecutive Sun Belt Conference series won (school and SBC record streak). The streak spans the previous five-plus seasons, dating back to a March 2013 sweep of FIU.
