SETTING THE SCENE
After a break from midweek action, No. 10 Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Softball resumes play with a three-game Sun Belt Conference series in Statesboro, Ga. at Georgia Southern.

The Ragin’ Cajuns (26-4, 9-0 Sun Belt) are coming off their strongest conference series to date, a sweep at South Alabama in which the squad produced 36 runs and 38 hits on a .442 average.

Louisiana is concluding a stretch where five of six weekends have been on the road. Gerry Glasco’s squad has excelled, reeling off seven consecutive wins on the opposition’s home turf. Louisiana is 11-3 away from Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park this season.

The Ragin’ Cajuns seek their fourth Sun Belt series win in as many weekends and accomplishing that goal would stretch the program’s impressive streak of consecutive league series won, which dates back to March 2013, to 50 straight.

Ranked Top 10 nationally in nearly every major hitting category, Louisiana seeks to keep the production at the plate at a high level. In the circle, Summer Ellyson enters the weekend tied for the national lead in victories (18) with Indiana’s Tara Trainer and Florida’s Kelly Barnhill.

The Ragin’ Cajuns are making their third all-time appearance in Statesboro. Previous trips occurred during the 2016 and 2017 season.
