LAFAYETTE (KATC) Louisiana softball is 11-0, it’s best start since 2015 when the Cajuns won 42 games.

At the heart of the Cajuns hot start has been great pitching. Summer Ellyson has recorded seven wins, with a sub-one earned run average. Freshman Kandra Lamb has thrown two no-hitters. But perhaps Louisiana’s bats aren’t getting the attention they deserve. Louisiana is hitting .370 avg with 15 home runs and 86 RBI.

“I think having a great approach at the plate. You want to get a good pitch. You want to select the right pitch,” said Gerry Glasco. “Mechanic wise, the lower half. The key for girls is using the lower half. So we did a lot of work with that all fall.”

Last year Louisiana hit just 23 home runs during the entire season.

Louisiana travels to Texas for the Baylor Invitational where it faces Kent State, North Texas and the host team Baylor. The Bears are ranked 16th in the coaches poll. North Texas is 8-1 with a run-rule win over no. 22 Texas A&M.
