NEW ORLEANS — The Sun Belt Conference has suspended the officiating crew from Saturday’s ULM at Georgia State men’s basketball game for what it calls an “egregious error.”

In the waning seconds, Georgia State’s D’Marcus Simonds took an inbound pass coast-to-coast scoring a game-winning layup. Video shows that Simonds clearly traveled on the play, something the Sun Belt agreed with this week when suspending the crew.

“When such an egregious error occurs that directly determines the outcome of a game, it cannot be ignored,” said commissioner Carl Benson in a statement Saturday night. ” As a result, these three officials will be suspended for their next scheduled game.”

ULM plays Saturday hosting Louisiana.
