LAFAYETTE (KATC) –Cajuns forward Malik Marquetti will miss the remainder of the season.

In a release from Louisiana basketball, the Cajuns announced Malik Marquetti suffered a season ending knee injury in Saturday win at Southeastern.

Marquetti was averaging 15.1 PPG for the Cajuns, led the Sun Belt in free throw shooting, and was third in three-point shooting.

“It’s disappointing that Malik will miss the rest of the season due to injury,” said head coach Bob Marlin in a statement released by the school. “Since the Kansas game, Malik was making great strides offensively and has been our best defensive player. As one of our team captains, Malik was having an All-Conference season and our staff felt like he was taking on the role of leadership and consistency that (former Ragin’ Cajuns guard) Frank Bartley displayed for us.”

Louisiana begins conference play Thursday at home against Arkansas State.
