METAIRIE (KATC) – While Cam Jordan was, hilariously admittedly, disrespecting Ben Roethlisberger, the Saints coaching staff was trying to figure out how it would patchwork it’s offensive line ahead of the Saints game against the Steelers. Sean Payton even joked this week that third string quarterback, returner, running back, Swiss Army knife Taysom Hill may have to put his hand in the dirt.

Four of the Saints starting linemen are on this week’s injury report. Third offensive tackle Jermon Bushrod didn’t practice either, and Michael Ola is on injured reserve. Of the six players on the injury report this week who were either limited or did not practice, five are offensive linemen, the sixth is punter Thomas Morestead.

Unprompted, Sean Payton suggested the NFL address it’s 46-man game day roster. Suggesting more players would share minutes and save bodies.

“The 46-man roster on game day is soon to be, I think, will be soon dated. I think that’s gotta change,” he said during his weekly media availability. “If we’re interested in health and safety, and it sounds like we are, at least that’s something we talk about a lot. That number should be higher.”

With some good injury news, Drew Brees spoke highly of Ted Ginn Jr. who return who practiced this week. Ginn has been out since Since being put on October 19. Ginn is eligible to return this weekend per the league’s new Injured Reserve requirements that require a player to miss at least 8 weeks.
