Lecile Harris, hall-of-fame rodeo clown, dead at 83

JACKSON, Miss. — The rodeo world is mourning the death of a legend.

Lecile Harris died in his sleep Wednesday night after completing the Dixie Nationals rodeo here. He was 83.

Harris is a member of the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame and was known as the dean of rodeo clowns and bullfighters. Rodeo fans from Acadiana know Harris from his many appearances at the annual Mid-Winter Fair Rodeo at Blackham Coliseum.
