Extra practice, no extra eligibility

LHSAA Releases Update

High school football teams will all qualify for extra practice, in accordance with the LHSAA's policy about teams who forego spring practice.

Wednesday, the LHSAA reiterated its rules that allow for teams who do not have a spring practice periods to start on the fifth week of the NFHS calendar, which is the first week of August. The season that is all schools.

The LHSSA released its monthly update on the suspension of operation do to the Caronavirus pandemic. The league noted that much of the timeline for returning to practice is generally out of its hands, do to government mandates.

The league also said it would not allow for an extra year of eligibility, as the NCAA has allowed its spring sport athletes.
