Jennings (KATC) To say it’s been a tough year at Jennings High School may not do it justice.

This year the school has juggled two tragedies, freshman Hunner Leblanc was accidentally shot in the neck in January, andfreshman Evan Reed was killed in a car crash in March.

The two played football at Jennings but Wednesday it was the baseball team coming together in support with a fundraising exhibition game against Southside High School. The game raised more than $2,000 for Evan and Hunner’s families.

Several of the baseball players were close to Hunner and Evan and say what’s helped them get through the year has been the support from the team.

“We have our ups and down,” said freshman Ethan Jardell. “But we pull through together as a team. we don’t have to go through it ourselves. our friends are going through the same thing, so we can talk about it with each other.”
