The Saints sign former Packers receiver Ty Montgomery, a unique weapon known for versatility.

due to injures, the 2015 third round pick out of Stanford was forced into a role as a running back in his second season in Green Bay. That year he rushed for 457 yards, and three touchdowns, averaging 5.9 yards-per-carry. In 2016, he posted career highs in receptions, receiving yards, caries, rushing yards and return yards, eclipsing 1,000 total yards. He also rushed for two touchdowns that year in the postseason, as Green Bay advanced to thje NFC Championship. But the workload hasn't been the same.

Montgomery was traded to Baltimore in the middle of the 2018 season, and played for the Jets last year. He caught a career low 13 passes for 90 yards, rushing just 32 times for 103 yards. While his recent numbers don't pop off the charts, his versatility gives the Saints a back-end roster type who can play multiple positions, a trait becoming more and more valuable in the NFL.
