BROUSSARD, Louisiana (Press Release) – The Web.com Tour announced today a five-year extension of the Chitimacha Louisiana Open presented by MISTRAS through 2024. The 28th annual playing of the event begins on Thursday morning at Le Triomphe Golf and Country Club.

“We are excited to extend this partnership between the Web.com Tour and the Chitimacha Louisiana Open presented by MISTRAS,” said Web.com Tour President Alex Baldwin. “The tournament has been a premier stop on our annual calendar since 1992 and today’s announcement will allow us to build on the success this event has enjoyed through the years.”

With the partnership extension, the Chitimacha Louisiana Open presented by MISTRAS will continue to generate financial contributions to support local charities, most of which are youth-oriented. The title sponsor, the Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana, and presenting sponsor, MISTRAS, allow the tournament to have an annual charitable impact in the greater-Broussard community. The tournament has distributed over $4.85 million to numerous charities since its inception and nearly 50 charities and groups will benefit from this year’s tournament including the Boys & Girls Club of Acadiana, the Children’s Museum of Acadiana and the Animal Rescue Foundation of Louisiana.

“I think this extension says a ton about Acadiana and the surrounding area,” said Tournament Director Danny Jones. “We always hear the players love coming here, but the way that the community has embraced it over the past 27 years is incredible. The sustainability and sponsorship and volunteer hours that it takes, it may only be one week a year, but it’s a week that a lot of people look forward to.”

The Chitimacha Louisiana Open presented by MISTRAS is one of two PGA TOUR-sanctioned events in Louisiana, along with the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Since debuting in 1992, the tournament has become one of the most popular and longstanding events on the Web.com Tour’s schedule. Only four events have been on the Web.com Tour’s schedule longer, and Le Triomphe Golf and Country Club shares honors as the third-longest host course on Tour.

Past champions of the Chitimacha Louisiana Open presented by MISTRAS include 2006 U.S. Ryder Cup team member Brett Wetterich (2003, 2011), 2016 PGA Championship winner Jimmy Walker (2004) and 2017 RBC Heritage champion Wesley Bryan, whose victory at Le Triomphe in 2016 was the first of three titles during a breakout season in which he earned the Tour’s Three-Victory Promotion.
