GRAND COTEAU — Christy Roy has always been proud to say she's from Grand Coteau.
"This little community has so much charm. Its timeless and classic," says Roy, who didn't want her hometown's sparkle to go unnoticed. So Christy opened a business downtown to highlight all the beauty Grand Coteau has to offer.
Her business is called Dollface.
"We're a full service salon. We do everything from highlights, balayage, haircuts, coloring, waxing," but Dollface offers so much more. Holding onto the historic charm of the old building, Christy created a beauty bar where women can create their own lipsticks and perfumes, get makeovers and shop unique goods from local vendors.
"All of our vendors are actually women, so we support women in business," says Roy, whose mission is to support women beyond just giving them business or making them beautiful.
"I struggle with my self esteem a lot and I see that in a lot of young women and if I can just give them a little bit of confidence and security, that means more to me than anything." At Dollface, the experience of enhancing outer beauty is about feeling better on the inside too.
