METAIRE — Teddy Bridgewater may or may not start against Minnesota Friday, Sean Payton wouldn't say Wednesday, but either way he's looking forward to playing his former team.

Bridgewater was drafted by the Vikings, but saw his time come to an end there because of injuries.

In 2018, he opened camp with the Jets before being traded to New Orleans in August. The Saints have all but named him their quarterback in waiting.

But he's not the only connection New Orleans has the Vikings.

Running back Latavius Murray, and linemen Nick Easton are both former Viking players having played for Mike Zimmer. A man who spent three years with Sean Payton under Bill Parcels.

"There's that old saying misery loves company and we were both challenged by (Bill) Parcells to be real good coaches," said Sean Payton Wednesday. "He's a close friend, but a lot of it I think is more coincidence. Latavius (Murray) is a guy that we valued and we needed a running back, if we were to lose Mark (Ingram). Then you get to some other positions. (such as) Nick Easton's position. A lot of it has to do with just timing."

The Vikings meet the Saints Friday at 7:00 p.m. The game will air on KATC.
