A Lafayette woman is making Christmas memorable for hundreds of Acadiana children. At McMillan's Pub, the holiday spirit surrounds the building. Owner Robin McMillan has been hard at work decorating.
"I love it," McMillan said. "I want to keep it year round. I want Christmas year round."
However, the holiday is more than just decorations for McMillan. Dozens of gifts line the wall in the back of the pub. They're gifts that will go to hundreds of Acadiana children.
"No child should go without Christmas," McMillan said. She created Rosa's Angels 14 years ago in honor of her late mother.
"I do it in her memory. Keeping the spirit of Christmas going," McMillan said.
Since then, the non-profit has helped more than 500 children. Toys, clothes, and more are gathered through donations and sponsors. It's a way to make sure everyone, no matter their financial means, can celebrate the holiday.
"If you don't have extra money, then that's why I'm here. I'll take care of your child and we'll bring them whatever they need for Christmas," McMillan added.
The charitable work extends beyond the holiday season. McMillan hosts several events throughout the year to help those in need. "Christmas to me is not just December 25th, it's year round,"McMillan said. "If you have money, shop a little bit and buy a toy."
Hygiene items, cologne, body spray, and more are still needed. Those interested can drop off donations at McMillan's Pub in Lafayette, located at 2905 E. Simcoe St.
