Lourdes Foundation is launching a free virtual speaker series in May in which three local men will offer inspirational messages of hope and healing to the community.

The messages will be streamed via Facebook live on Thursday evenings, starting May 7, at 7 p.m. The speaker series will also feature members of the restaurant community who have supported the Foundation and donated to hospital team members during the COVID-19 pandemic.

All you have to do to participate is pick up a family meal from the restaurant featured for that evening. Then, gather around a computer at 7 p.m. and visit the Our Lady of Lourdes Facebook page HERE to catch the live stream interview and message.

The schedule is as follows:

May 7: Pete's and Matt Deggs
May 14: La Pizzeria and Rowe Stipe
May 21: Dwight's Restaurant and Wade Berzas

Lourdes Foundation Director Jeigh Stipe explained that the series is a way to give back to the community, as they have provided donations of food, masks, beverages, and other items needed to fuel and protect those working on the frontlines.

"We want to give back to those who continue to serve us so graciously," Stipe said. "This series is a great way to provide much needed support for area restaurants and feed the spirits of our families, friends and neighbors during these unprecedented times. The food is amazing. The stories are powerful. It's an experience that is sure to leave you feeling full and fulfilled."

Matt Deggs, head baseball coach for Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns. His book "15 to 28: A Story of God's Love, Power and Redemption," is a riveting story tracing his journey in and out of college baseball. The 28 stories inside paint a true testament to what is possible when we remove ourselves from the equation and let God work in us.

Lafayette native Rowe Stipe, 23, recently published "Storms, Fire and Whispers: Hearing God Through Life's Journey." This book is a must-read for anyone looking to rediscover the joy of following Christ or dive deeper into the Christian faith. In the fall of 2015, Stipe's cousin, Sid Ortis - a zealous LSU fan - succumbed to cancer at the age of 16. Stipe depicts how the darkest moments in our lives can set us up for our greatest blessings and that God always keeps His promise to never leave or forsake us.

The lone survivor of the December plane crash in Lafayette, Wade Berzas sustained burns to 75 percent of his body and spent over 50 days in the hospital. Berzas recounts how life as he knew it changed in 48 seconds. He experienced God's miraculous presence, kept unwavering faith and felt the powerful love of family. He deeply felt the prayers of this community throughout his recovery and will speak to the God-given blessing his life is today.

Lance Strother is the co-owner and co-founder of LEAD Professionals Group, a consulting and coaching team who engages spirituality, encourages meaningful service to others and motivates people to be the best version of themselves. Lance will facilitate the live stream with the speakers on Thursday evenings.
