LEDA's upcoming job fair in August will be going virtual.

LEDA made the decision to transition the LEDA Job Fair to a virtual only event on Thursday, August 6, due to contiued health concerns in the region. The Virtual LEDA Job Fair will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. via Brazen online software.

The web-based software allows job seekers to create a profile and upload a resume in Brazen. During the event job seekers will be able to participate in text-based chats with hiring managers via smartphone, tablet or desktop. A video chat option may also be available, a release states.

“The LEDA Job Fair is even more important now given the job losses seen in the region due to COVID-19 and the energy downturn,” says Gregg Gothreaux, LEDA President and CEO. “The Virtual LEDA Job Fair is part of ongoing efforts in the region to connect our displaced workers with companies who are hiring for positions from entry-level to experienced.”

The job fair is in its twenty-fifth year.

“Because the LEDA Job Fair has always been a successful event for job seekers and local businesses, we saw the value in transitioning the event to a virtual platform rather than postponing the event to later in the year,” says Ryan LaGrange, LEDA Manager of Workforce Development. “Local companies that have participated in recent virtual job fairs have had success in identifying qualified candidates to fill job openings and we expect similar results with the Virtual LEDA Job Fair.”

The LEDA Job Fair is free to job seekers. Online registration is available at: www.lafayette.org/jobfair. Job seekers should register via Brazen and fully complete their profiles, including uploading their resumes. The list of participating employers is updated online daily. Visit www.lafayette.org/jobfair for the latest job fair developments.

In advance of the job fair, LEDA says it will host a Virtual Preparation Workshop on Thursday, July 30, at 9:00 a.m. via Zoom. The two-hour event will help job seekers make the most of their job search. Laurie J. James will present Positioning Your Resume for Success and Danielle Dayries, with DMD & Associates, will present LinkedIn: The Job Leads Magnet. Pre-registration is required to receive access to the Zoom event: https://2020ledajobfairprep.eventbrite.com.

LEDA says there is still space available for companies that wish to participate in the Virtual LEDA Job Fair. Registration details can be found at www.lafayette.org/jobfair.
