KATC and the Scripps Family Impact Fund through the Scripps Howard Foundation are committed to making sure children in Acadiana don’t go hungry during the pandemic. We are asking viewers to donate to the Three O'clock Project, and we will donate $12,000 as well. The Three O’clock Project has been providing healthy meals to Acadiana children since April 14th. Each child gets a box of food that feeds them for the entire week, and the plan is to continue food distribution until school opens up again this August.

Each week the organization sets up drive-thru distribution points in Acadia, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin and Vermilion Parishes. They estimate they hand out 9,200 boxes per week in Acadiana, working out to about 128,000 meals per week. You can find their updated schedules on our website, at katc.com/food.

“We are so thankful to have the financial support from the Scripps Howard Foundation in addressing food insecurities in Acadiana. There is no doubt that the community has nutritional needs that need to be addressed, especially with so many negatively impacted by COVID-19. We are hopeful through the generous support of the local community that we will be able to grow this $12,000 grant into something much larger to help feed as many families as we can here in Acadiana,” said Andrew Shenkan, VP & General Manager of KATC.
