UPDATE: Rayne Police are now looking for a suspect in connection with a shooting Thursday night.

Detectives with the Rayne Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for 24-year-old Tylan Turpeau for one count of attempted second-degree murder and one count of possession of firearm or carrying concealed weapon by a person convicted of certain felonies.

These charges stem from the shooting incident in the 700 block of Malvern Street on April 28, 2022, at 6:54 PM.

Police were called to the scene of a shooting at the intersection of Malvern and West Jeff Davis Avenue. There, they located a 22-year-old man who had been shot in the torso.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and listed in stable condition.

Multiple arrests are expected, police say.

Chief Carroll Stelly asks that anyone with information related to the shooting or the whereabouts of Tylan Turpeau please contact Detective Richard Gray at 337-393-2930 or Crime Stoppers of Acadia Parish at 789-TIPS.
