OPELOUSAS — Police have arrested a man on aggravated animal cruelty charges after they say he killed his pit bull.
Investigators contacted Hank Brown after witnesses reported him for allegedly abusing the dog. According to Major Mark Guidry of the Opelousas Police Department, officers found the dog's carcass near the intersection of Liberty and Bellevue Streets. Brown told officers the pit bull was sick and that he put the dog down to end its misery.
Police did not specify the manner in which the dog was killed.
