For weeks at Doug Ashy Building Materials, it was something they weren't used to.
With the retail side of things suspended, the Corona-directed name of the game was curbside.
"The drive-thru has been seamless," company president D.J. Ashy said. "The customers come they call in their orders, and we go out and meet them."
Workers bring orders to their cars and they drive through or they never have to leave their vehicle. Curbside was working, but it just wasn't the same.
Now, for the first time in a month, not only can Doug Ashy Building Materials say "we're open," they can say "we're… really open."
"We're nervous about it, but we're excited," explained Ashy. "We feel like it's time, we're ready to open back up to the public."
With safety measures in place, the retail operation is back and the customers are being allowed to fully take in the Doug Ashy experience.
"It's not normal, but it's starting to get there, starting to let them come into the store, keeping them six feet away, but it's a lot better than seeing them out in the parking lot," adds Inside Sales expert Corey Landry.
Fencing and paint have been the big-sellers of late, and for employees and customers alike, a full-scale reopen of Doug Ashy is here.
"We owe it to our customers," concludes Ashy. "They've all been appreciated that we've stayed open. They're all still working so we should be working."
