Many of you have been writing to us on social media, asking if we could remind residents about the rules when traffic signals are out.

If all lights are out because of an electrical power failure, you must stop at the intersection as if it were a 4-way stop. You can proceed when you know other vehicles, bicycles, or pedestrians have stopped.

If you see a traffic signal with a flashing yellow light, treat it is a caution light.

If you see a traffic signal with a flashing red light, treat it as a stop sign.
