Woodbriar breaks ground on new assisted living facility in Maurice

Located at 213 E. Etienne St at the Highway 167 intersection, the $6.4 million project is expected to be completed between August through October of 2020. "Woodbriar Assisted Living will consist of 36 one bedroom apartments ranging from 550 to 580 sq. ft.," says Managing Partner Nicol Hannie. "Each apartment will have a full size refrigerator, microwave, walk-in closet, Wi-Fi access, elevated commodes with handicap bars as well as a walk-in shower with a seat and handicap bars." Woodbriar will also consist of 10 Memory Care apartments ranging from 376 to 396 sq. ft. The community will boast the latest technology with nurse call systems in each bathroom and bedroom, high-speed Wi-Fi and Internet which will be complimentary for every resident. We will also have a private library with a computer workstation for residents to use to browse the Internet or video conference with their loved ones. "This is more than a monetary investment, " says Partner Lee "Woody" Wood. "This is an investment in our community. I've lived and served in the Maurice community for almost 25 years. I wanted a place where my own parents would feel comfortable living. Too often, when looking at assisted living facilities there's an "industrial" feel to them. We wanted Woodbriar to feel like home." What sets Woodbriar Southern Style Assisted Living & Memory Care apart is their commitment to the future. "Memory Care is something we found to be in high demand and currently is a growing need,'' says Hannie. "Memory loss is an unfortunate part of the aging process and we believe in seamlessly transitioning those residents into our Memory Care section instead of transferring them out and away from their families."
