Vermilion Arts Council Presents: CRYSTAL DUNNING VIRTUAL CONCERT

The Vermilion Arts Council is holding a free virtual concert to raise money for a mural project.

The concert, which will be streamed live from the council's Facebook page (facebook.com/VermilionArtsCouncil) is free, but donations are being requested to help fund the Walls of Wonder inner-city mural program.

The concert is set for Friday, September 25, 2020 at 6:30PM and will feature Vocalist Crystal Dunning of Lafayette performing live from inside St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville, Louisiana.

As a benefit concert for the new “Walls of Wonder” inner-city mural program, the concert accepts donations online:

You can purchase a $5.00 “ticket” online in advance of the concert (accessed via the VAC Events tab on Facebook or the website’s upcoming events page vermilionartscouncil.org)

You can click on the Walls of Wonder Donation tab on the VAC home page to make a tax deductible donation of any amount during the concert.

The program’s first official mural is planned for the back-exterior wall of the Christian Service Center Café located at 701 Chevis Street in Abbeville. The mural will be visible from North Bailey and Edwards Streets. This café serves free hot meals to the community four days a week, and the center itself provides many other services to the residents of Vermilion, such as free groceries, bill-pay assistance, and a free pregnancy center. The partnership between these two organizations demonstrates the healing work of art and the comradery and collaboration that art-focused projects can bring to the community.

Guest vocalist Crystal Dunning holds a Masters in Voice from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and she completed her undergraduate studies at The Louisiana Scholars' College at Northwestern State University. Although her love of opera is strong, she enjoys small, intimate recital performances best. During her graduate studies, she was awarded the Friends of Opera James and Rhonda Seacrest Award which is given to a deserving graduate student. Currently, Crystal resides in Lafayette, LA where she seeks to continue performing and teaching.

Help leave a positive, lasting mark on Vermilion with your monetary contribution while enjoying an evening of beautiful music.
