VERMILION PARISH — The Village of Maurice is in the process of transferring water customers to their newly installed water well.
Mayor Wayne Theriot says that in the upcoming weeks, the Village of Maurice will be transferring to the newly installed water well. After the transfer, the village's current treatment facilities will be offline while a new treatment facility is constructed.
"The new well will be treated with a temporary injection system which will keep up the purity and safety of our water. Our water well will continue to be tested to assure that we meet all required requirements," Theriot said in a statement.
The only effect that customers may experience will be in the level of water softness, according to Theriot.
The village is working with engineers and a contractor, hoping to minimize the time period before the new treatment facility is up and running.
