The victim in an fatal Abbeville shooting on Edwards Street has been identified
Police say 52-year-old Roland Bernard Jr of Abbeville was shot on November 5 at around 9:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Edwards Street and later died at a local hospital.
Upon arrival at the scene Thursday night, officers say they found Bernard on the ground in the driveway of a residence. He appeared to have suffered at least one gunshot wound.
Medical assistance was called in and they attempted to treat Bernard. He was transported to Abbeville General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, Abbeville Police say that no details regarding the investigation are being released at this time. They did not provide any information on possible suspects.
Abbeville Police Department detectives are asking that anyone who may have any information regarding this crime to contact the Abbeville Police Depatment at 893-2511.
