Last minute preparations are underway in Vermilion Parish as Hurricane Delta heads for the Louisiana coast.
Dave Baker was LIVE at Champagne's Grocery in Erath where, later this morning, those needing final supplies will be making a stop.
The grocery store says they are stocking up with a little extra for residents who may be staying to ride out the storm. Champagne's plans to close on Friday, October 9 and reopen on Saturday with weather permitting.
Thursday, October 8, is the final day to get supplies in the parish where officials say they will not be attempting any rescues until Delta has passed.
A mandatory evacuation is in effect for low lying areas of the parish that are prone to flooding. See all evacuation orders, here.
The storm surge values from Hurricane Delta could be anywhere from 7 to 11 feet in some places. The storm is expected to make landfall on Friday as a Category 2.
