VERMILION PARISH, La. - Two Abbevill men were arrested for attempted murder following a drive-by shooting on January 5, 2021, according to Sheriff Mike Couvillon.

Tyshawn Charlot , 20, and Donald Briggs III, 24, both of Abbeville, were arrested on January 21, 2021, on warrants for attempted first degree murder.

Investigators say shots were fired into an occupied vehicle, but no one was hit.

Both Briggs and Charlot were arrested without incident by the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Task Force and Abbeville Police Department.

After the arrests were made, two search warrants were executed at separate residences within the city of Abbeville where firearms, including a stolen shotgun, were recovered, Couvillon stated.

Both men were booked in to the Vermilion Parish Jail.

The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible.
