Rene Rost Middle School was evacuated due to a bomb threat on Wednesday.
The Vermilion Parish School System says that because of the threat, all students were moved to Holy Rosary Catholic Church. The School dismissed from Holy Rosary Catholic Church at their normal dismissal time of 2:21. The car rider pickup line formed down Church Street.
The Kaplan Police Department placed officers at the school and K9s were on campus for a sweep of the building.
"Our students and staff did a fantastic job and students were safe at all times! We would like to thank the entire community and parents for trusting us with the safety of our students. Your cooperation with this process is greatly appreciated!" VPSB said in a post.
