The Abbeville Police Department will conduct a Sobriety Checkpoint on Saturday, December 21.
The checkpoint will take place between the hours of 9:00 pm and 3:00 am somewhere in the city limits of Abbeville.
Officers will be looking for impaired drivers and other related traffic offenses.
The department says that the checkpoint is part of a year-long grant program provided through the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.
Chief Bill Spearman reminds all citizens to obey all traffic laws and use caution when out on the city streets and highway during the holiday season.
