Law enforcement in Abbeville assisted with removing a large alligator from a home on S. State Street.
Crews were on scene at the 1200 block of the roadway. The 8-foot alligator was located under a building.
Abbeville Police officers on scene waited for a state-contracted alligator trapper to arrive and secure the animal.
Trapper Kim Crochet says that the was carefully tied and relocated to another location for release.
The animal was checked for any injuries before that release.
