VERMILION PARISH, La. - A Vermilion Parish Police Jury candidate is facing criminal charges for the part he allegedly played in the defacing of his political opponent's sign.

Abbeville Police received a complaint in July that the political sign for Paul Bourgeois Jr. was damaged at the corner of North Lyman and Charity.

According to police, during the investigation detectives recovered security video and cited Ernal J. Broussard for criminal mischief and tampering with property.

Police also arrested Lee Credur for criminal mischief.

The case has been turned over to the District Attorney's Office.
